Audit Consent Mode Across Your Site
Updates April 2025
Verify consent mode across your site - not just per page

Exciting new features launched:

  • Verify Google Consent Mode – visualise consent signals across all your crawled pages.
  • Critical Risks – new warning checks for cookies and trackers whose privacy status can be considered open to question/debate.
  • Agency Partnerships – monetise your agency account.

As always, we only make announcements when we have something significant to show. And we think you will like these new features – log in to see them in action.

1. Verify Google Consent Mode

Consent Mode is a simple concept – if you are collecting data from European (EEA) visitors and sending it to Google for processing, you must include the user’s consent choice. If not Google have stated they will not process such data for advertising purposes. Consent mode signals are set on a per page basis.

Despite’s its simplicity, consent mode is difficult to install correctly because of the myriad of different consent combinations. Plus consent mode v2 has two flavours – Basic (Strict mode) and Advanced (Lax mode) – with privacy implications for the latter. Note this is about working at scale – its pretty straightforward to check a consent mode setup of a single page, but a different ball game when you are responsible for data collection across an enterprise site/ecosystem.

We now have specific checks and monitoring to help you get Google consent mode right:

All crawled pages are reviewed for consent mode signals.

2. Critical Risks – New Warning Checks

There are two new “warning” checks within the Critical Risks section. Previously, critical checks were black or white – a check either failed red, or passed green. However there a number of cookies and tracker scripts that are in the middle. These are those that depend on a specific configuration setting at the vendor’s backend, or your organisation’s perception of business risk. Hence, such cookies and tracker pixels are now classified as warnings (amber).

Examples of such tools include Google Analytics using advanced consent mode (redacted data); Chat widgets; Customer support tools; E-commerce/content personalisation, Ratings widgets; Other interaction tools:

Warning checks allow for subtle differences in configuration.

3. Monetise Your Agency Account

Our Agency offering allows benefit from discounted pricing on new projects and/or a lifetime commission paid back to you on all new Verified Data accounts created for your clients.
